After not visiting a dentist for about 5 years due to high anxiety of dentists, I booked an emergency appointment with this clinic really easily online after a concern with a tooth. I’m so glad I did, because they made me feel so welcome and comfortable from start to finish! I felt like I got true professional advice on my dental health and made me feel not too overwhelmed by explaining things clearly and taking a step by step approach to further treatment! This previous fear of going has lowered so much in one visit, shall definitely be staying with this place and as a former NHS patient I was nervous of costs but such great competitive prices!

Ric and the Herts Dental team have been looking after my teeth for a few years now and their service is fantastic. Polite, clear and supportive. I have had fillings, an implant my teeth assessed, Root canal, a Crown and cleaned. All with no pain. The prices are very reasonable. I am very happy with the service. I am now actually happy to go to the Dentist.
Tony
I only wish I had discovered them years ago! They removed some old fillings and replaced them with non amalgam fillings and I found it remarkable that at no time during the procedures did I feel any pain, not even a tinge, not even when they gave the injection. At my previous dentist the injection was always painful as were many other things. The service, efficiency and communication as to what was happening were first class.
Carmela
I have been a patient of Ric’s since he took over the clinic back in 2010.
I recently had a wisdom tooth taken out and I couldn’t believe how painless and quick the procedure was. He has a very gentle and reassuring manner which puts even the most anxious of patients at ease. His prices are competitive and I would thoroughly recommend him.

Full jaw implants means:
You may present with no teeth, some teeth or a full set of failing teeth which are broken down, loose or decayed.
We will have to provide a full case assessment and discuss which option you are suited for, according to your clinical situation and your financial budget. We will ensure you understand the pros and cons of your options and you can go away to think about which option you would like. We will welcome you to ask questions about your care and your proposed treatment. You are more than welcome to discuss your options over the phone with our dentist or pop in one evening for a chat.
Here are you options summarised for full jaw implants:
An FP1 bridge is the most demanding of full arch implant bridges to be constructed, as it requires skilled technical work, soft tissue manipulation and porcelain layering techniques by our ceramacists. It is also the bridge which required the most number of appointments to be constructed. Typically, an FP3 bridge takes us 4 visits to make and an FP1 bridge takes about 8 visits.
What are full jaw implants?
If you have failing teeth which need to be removed, then this method may be an option to you. All your bad teeth are removed gently, under local anaesthetic and sedation, and replaced with implants and new teeth on the same day.
This treatment protocol may also be suitable:

Stages of full jaw dental implant treatment
Phase 1: Planning & assessment
Firstly, we need to make sure that you are a suitable patient for this type of treatment. It will involve detailed planning. Certain records like impressions, x-rays, photographs and CT scanning need to be taken, all which are done in our clinic. We’ll assess you for the suitable type of sedation protocol, should you wish to go down this route. If you don’t have an existing denture which we can work with, a new one will have to be constructed so that we can choose the correct shape, colour and size of your new teeth and smile. This is the denture that will be made smaller and converted into your same day fixed bridge.
Phase 2: Same day dental implant treatment
On the day of your actual treatment, there will be a team of dentists, nurses, sedation staff and dental technicians to help facilitate your care. You’ll receive pain killers and local anaesthetic before we start.
If your need teeth to be extracted, this will be done on this day and 4-6 implants placed in your jaw, under sedation.
After your implants have been inserted, we will give you a rest. During this time, our technical team will convert your bulky denture (made in phase 1) into a comfortable fitting bridge. This bridge will be attached to your implants and the dentist will make the necessary adjustments to make it feel comfortable in your mouth.
We will advise you to rest for the next 2-3 days with your new set of fixed teeth.
We will see you for a review appointment 7-10 days later to make sure everything is ok and give you further advice on how to look after your new set of fixed permanent teeth.
Phase 3
We will see you again 3-4 months later so that you can have your final strong bridge constructed.
Why do I have to wait 3-4 months for the final bridge construction?
Full jaw implants, which is usually done in a day, is provisional and needs to be revisited later. This is because we need to let the gums heal and allow the bone to grip and grow around the implants. This process usually takes 3-4 months.
Can I have both jaws done on the same day?
Full jaw implants is an all-day procedure, which is time consuming and technique sensitive. We will work with you to decide upon the best protocol: single jaw or dual jaw dental implants.

If you have a gap and would like a FIXED tooth on the same day, an implant screw can be gently inserted under your gum and a fake tooth attached on top, so that you leave the clinic on the same day with a tooth.
If your bad / loose tooth has to be removed, an implant can be placed after the tooth has been removed. A fake tooth is then attached on top.
Our implant dentist will make the necessary assessment to see if this is possible for you, should you decide to go down this route.
See the first video on this page to view an animation of same day implants.
We will welcome you to our dental practice give you a medical questionnaire to fill out. Our implant dentist, Ric, will see you in his clinic and you can let him know what bothers you about your teeth. Ric will have a look in your mouth and give you his opinion. You’ll be able to ask any questions regarding your care and finances. At this stage, it is up to you if you wish to proceed with the formal implant planning and possible CT scanning. This usually occurs on the same visit if your treatment is routine.
How does your clinic keep their implant prices so low?
We are able to offer quality implants to our patients at affordable prices because we provide a lot of implant treatments to our patients. This makes us good and efficient at running an implant clinic. We also bulk buy our implant materials at a discounted rate- we can then pass the savings on to our patients. However, we do not compromise on the quality or workmanship- this is reflected by our reputation and the testimonials our patients have given us.
Being conveniently located in Hertfordshire, we don’t suffer the enormous overheads and rent of a high street or a Central London location. Having said that, you can get to our clinic in 20 minutes from Central London!
We have set prices for implant treatments, but an accurate fee can only be given after the dentist has provided your formal implant assessment.
I am a nervous dental patient. Can I have full jaw implants under sedation?
Yes, we recommend you to be sedated during your implant surgery, especially if you are an anxious patient or having multiple implants.
We offer IV sedation. Our implant team will check your suitability to have sedation.
Sedation is also good to keep your blood pressure at bay. Anxiety at the dentist can have a negative impact on a patient’s blood pressure, so it’ll benefit those patients with such health problems.
You need to be aware that a responsible adult can come with you to the clinic and look after you for the rest of the day after your implant treatment under sedation. We will give you the full set of easy-to-follow instructions when you have your assessment.
What are my payment options for full jaw implants?
You simply Pay As You Go. We will give you an itemised breakdown at your consultation visit so that you understand what you are paying for.
To help facilitate the cost of dental care, you can choose staged payments or the Pay Monthly option, including interest-free finance. We also accept dental insurance– simply bring your insurance forms in. Your dentist in Watford will help you fill out your insurance forms.
You’re not alone! We are experts in treating patients who are scared of the dentist. We aim to provide virtually pain-free injections and gentle dentistry, including tooth extractions and implant surgery. The sedation option is available if you’re nervous or if you choose to do so with complex treatments.
Yes. You’ll receive a written itemised receipt after you’ve paid for your dental treatment; you then send this to your insurance company to be reimbursed.
If your treatment is complex, we are happy to speak to your insurance company before you start treatment, just to ensure you’ll be reimbursed.
Which components make up the dental implant system?
A dental implant is made up of smaller components, which attach to one another to form a tooth-like appliance:
1. The implant fixture is the screw which is gently inserted under the gum into the jawbone. The patient undergoes a small surgical operation to have this implant placed; it’s a bit like the opposite of a tooth removal. The implant fixture is buried underneath the gum and it cannot be seen. The Implant Surgeon places this fixture. The patient has the option to have this stage carried out whilst being sedated so that they are relaxed.
2. The abutment is the component which is screwed on top of the implant fixture.
3. Various components can now be attached to the abutment:
Come and see us for your assessment and we’ll given you a written itemised breakdown of the treatment you require. Once you complete your treatment with us, you simply claim the money back from your insurance.
What is a CT scanner?
It is an x-ray which shows your jawbone in three dimension. It is used to plan your full jaw implants and their final position.
Traditional dental x-rays are 2-d, which means you can only analyse the teeth and bone from one direction only. A CT scan will show us how much bone there is to place an implant.
And yes, we have a hi-tech CT scanner at our implant clinic!
Having dental x-rays and a CT scan is safe. Some patient think of the excessive amount of radiation; but the radiation risk is very low, otherwise dentists won’t be taking x-rays.

How long does the dental implant treatment take?
IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT YOU LEAVE WITH AN IMPLANT TOOTH ON THE SAME DAY
Once the implant fixture is surgically placed, a healing period of 3 months is observed before the final crown or any other superstructure can be attached on top of the abutment and implant fixture. This healing period varies according to many factors and the site the implant is placed in. If the implant fixture is placed into very strong bone and the healing period is uneventful, then as a general rule we can attach the crown after 3 months. In softer bone, a longer healing period is advised so that the patient’s own jawbone can grow around the implant to make it solid.
A CT Scan is a 3D image of your jawbone. Sometimes we take a CT scan for complex implant cases or when the Implant Surgeon would like further information about the jawbone quantity and quality. Practically speaking, it is only when an implant fixture is actually placed that the Implant Surgeon can determine the quality of the jawbone.
Some parts of the mouth have got hard bone. For example, the bone around your chin area is usually strong. Bone density can only vary in different ethnic minorities and the general build of the patient (imagine a rugby player vs. a frail person).
In complex cases where the patient does not have enough jawbone, the patient’s natural bone can be utilised to substitute the defect or bone from other sources can be used. Your Implant Surgeon will discuss this with you if this is the case.
How soon after having a tooth removed can a dental implant be placed? / SAME DAY TOOTH OPTION
An implant and a fake natural looking tooth can be placed on the same day a bad tooth has been extracted. Our implant dentist will be able to assess if you can have this option. This is our preferred treatment option and this principal can be applied to a single tooth, multiple teeth or a full jaw implant set.
If you had your tooth removed at another clinic, we can provide an implant 4-8 weeks after your extraction, depending on how the gum heals up and the bone under the gum reshapes. It all depends on the patient’s clinical situation.
You have to bear in mind that when a patient has a tooth removed then they are left with a defect in their gum and jawbone. Overtime, this defect is filled with the patient’s own bone and gum.
If the extraction is simple then a period of 4-8 weeks is usually observed before inserting the implant fixture. This is because new jawbone is required to support the implant fixture.
If the patient’s tooth has been a challenge to extract or has been surgically removed, vital jawbone may be lost in this way. An extended period of time may be required before assessing the site for implant treatment.
It is important that an infected tooth is not left untreated, even if it causing the patient no issues. This is because vital jawbone can be lost due to the bacteria and infection, making implant dentistry a bit of a challenge. If an infected tooth cannot be saved then it is best to have it removed at the earliest opportunity to prevent unnecessary jawbone loss.
We’ll combine the major aspects of dentistry- restorative care, periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics and oral surgery- to give you the comprehensive care you need to get your dental condition to where it should be- a beautiful smile with strong teeth to enhance your chewing ability.
Your care will be supplemented by using modern technology: sedation equipment, digital x-rays, digital photography, facebows, articulators for study model analysis and a microscope for precision dentistry. You’ll also have access to the 3D CT scanner- this machine will assess how much bone you have prior to implant placement.
We kindly request a minimum period of 24 hours if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This gives emergency patients the chance to be seen.
To give your cancellation notice:
The technicians you see in “Meet the team” section are the excellent team we have supporting our work. They all have different roles. For example, Glen will do the metal work, Carlos will provide the ceramic finish to your dental implant crowns and Kash will oversee the whole operation. Their website address is www.bremadent.co.uk
What will a dental implant feel like?
Patients are delighted when they have their missing teeth restored with a fixed appliance. It can help them to smile, eat, get rid of their dentures and increase their confidence levels. An implant tooth is not bulky like a denture and is more comfortable.
If the patient has had a gap for some time, then the implant tooth can feel strange for a little while. Most patients will be able to adapt quickly. The gum may feel tight for a few days until it adjusts to the contours of the new crown.

I have all/most of my teeth missing in my jaw. What are my options?
There are many treatment variables, both with fixed and removable teeth.

When you come in for your consultation we would assess your suitability for full jaw implant treatment.
I don’t have enough bone for dental implant treatment
“My dentist has told be that I can’t have dental implants because I don’t have adequate jawbone, so I have to stick with dentures.”
We get asked this a lot and without having an implant assessment and taking a CT scan it is not viable to make this conclusion. With the advances in dental technology and the use of mini dental implants, you may still have the implant option!
“I’ve heard it’s cheaper to have dental care and implant dentistry done abroad”
We appreciate the cost of dental care can be high for some patients. That’s why we are offering a fully restored implant crown FROM £1350!
At our clinic, we are constantly evolving our practice to make quality private dentistry affordable to patients, without compromising the quality or rushing your care. We aim to make our patients benefit from the way we run our clinic, both from a quality patient experience right through to affordable dental care.
Some patients want their dentist to be available, right there and then, to reassure a them if an issue arises during their care. That’s us! Basically, if you experience any problems during or after treatment, we WANT you to phone us and see us at your next available appointment so that we can sort out whatever is bothering you. Remember, we’re only a short drive away and you don’t have to jump on a plane to get to us!
To ensure patients don’t miss out on the great care we have to offer, you can spread the cost of your treatment in interest-free monthly payments.
If you choose to go abroad for your treatment, ensure that the dentist treating you provides you the reassurance that they’ll be there to fix your problem, should an issue arise.
We are not in competition with our local dentists nor with “cheap” dental implant companies that provide treatment abroad. We simply believe in providing cost-effective dental solutions and a great dental experience for our patients! In fact, we work with local dentists who refer their patients to us for dental implant treatment under sedation.
Do you offer mini dental implants?
Yes! Mini implants are a great alternative to avoiding complex surgery and this is one of the options that may be presented to you.
Nerve re-positioning, sinus surgery and bone grafting can potentially be avoided with mini dental implants.
Once you have your implant assessment and your CT scan, this will give us an idea whether mini dental implants can be used for your case.
